I have fallen in love with the looks of a 2010 Red Hot Sunglo Ultra Classic. I currently own a 2008 Kawasaki Vulcan 2000 Classic LT. I have previously owned two 2007 Heritage Softail Classics. I am renting a 2010 Ultra on Tuesday, but wanted to get a few opinions from current owners of the 2009-2010 Ultra. I know that the 2007 Ultras were getting a bad rap for the undesirable sounds that many owners were complaining about. I know that Harley denied that there were any problems, but have noticed that they changed to a helical 5th gear and also added a redesigned Isolated Drive System. I would appreciate any input on what current owners of the 2009-2010 think about the redesigned Ultra. Are there any heat, noise, ride issues with the Ultra? Thanks much and have a Happy and safe New Year.
New and way better frame in 09', larger fuel tank in 08'.
Some of the guys complain about cramps in there face from smiling too much when they ride them.
Catalytic converter in the head pipe on all 10 models,(now all the new HD's will be just like california, chicken **** of HD if you ask me) of which will make them run much hotter than they should not to mention stealing some of your ponies. If you remove the cat then you put your warranty in jeopardy not to mention running afoul of the dreaded EPA

I had heat issues on the 2 Softail Classics I owned. Not even a ThunderMax EFC, K&N air filter, pipes, or oil cooler would solve the problem. Probably the reason I went with water cooled bike. Might have to look into a 2009 Ultra. I haven't been on this forum in a couple of years, but I do remember the very large "marbles in a can" thread regarding the 2007 Ultras. Some very angry owners to say the least. Thanks.

I'm one of those guys
Love my 09 Ultra and I see why you like the Red Hot SunGlo.
They do have the 5th gear whine but running Amsoil Sever Gear now and the whine is all but gone.
You won't go wrong with an 09, I have heard the 10's run hotter at the pipe because of the Cat.
09's are fine. 10's have the cats in headpipe. probably going to spend $$ on exhaust anyway so go ahead and get new headpipes from jamie @ fuelmoto. screw epa imho (unless you live in screwy california)...ride safe
Run the Spectro 75/140 HD Platnium 6 Speed Synthetic for your tranny. It will make it shift much easier. It's pretty spendy, like 16 bucks a quart, but how often do you change your tranny fluid? I put it in my 09 and like it a lot. That is if I ever get to ride;it's been a longggg winter already as far as I'm concerned.

Why blame Moco?, the EPA is forcing them to do things like Cats, Running lean etc.
