Well I finally bit the bullet and put the $$$ out for a down payment. Went with the flame blue/black colors.
I test rode an 09 ultra last summer and wasn't real impressed with the power. In sixth it's a bit of a joke.
Anyway, I'm expecting that the 103 will have more but with me and the OL (combined we're about 350 lbs+) and a lot of long-haul gear (she's not a light packer) I may be wanting to step it up a notch.
Can anyone recommend some cheap initial mods for consideration?
Keep in mind that with provincial and federal taxes, plus some comfort mods (hwy pegs, ws bags, grab handle for the OL), I'm going to be dropping CDN$35k. And we ain't rich people.
I just want to know if there's any easy way to ensure it's there when I need to roll it on hard.
Thanks, folks.
If you look at Fuel Moto's website and look at their Stage 1 packages you will see that there really isn't much difference in the 96" vs the 103" motor. At the most 2 hp. It shows the 96" motor at 79.35 HP and the 103" motor at 80.69 HP after the stage 1 install. I really doubt you can feel that in the seat of your pants. A 14 HP increase over stock from the 96" motor. Very impressive, I would have expected more out of the 103" motor. Torque on the 96" was 91 and the 103" was 97. Once again, I doubt you can feel the difference.
2:1 pipe, new A/C, TTS with a dyno tune. That'll wake it right up, and run roughly $1600-$1800 USD. Skip the dyno and VTune it yourself, you can save $300-$400.

My thoughts exactly. Only way to wake the 103 up is to get rid of the stock cams and front headpipe. I'm looking at putting in Andrews 54 cams, TTS, and Fulsac headpipe.
