I have an 08 Ultra set up with a stage 1, true dual Monster Ovals, and a PCIII. It has been dyno'ed a couple of times trying to get fuel management under control (my hog gets the WORST MPG of anyone I know...around 34mpg average with reasonable riding).
Now, I am not going to stop ridding just because my buddy's UC gets 44mpg with damn near the same set up, however, I was recommended to try Denso Iridum plugs with Magnecor wires to try for a slight MPG boost. Was able to pick up both for dirt cheap.
My question: is it safe to change out stock plugs and wires once a bike has been dyno'ed, or will the dyno be messed up?
Magnacor wires are the best, I have replaced the wires on all my Harleys with those as I have found some very bad wires from Harley.
The plugs are a joke, nothing works any better than a plain old set of Autolights.
How many miles are on the bikes? I don't remember what exactly happened when I got my '96 springer broke in, but when my '06 Victory broke in at around 8000 miles my mpg jumped from around 35 to 45 mpg. For me I thought it was pretty excessive jump, but my other Victory pals were all getting that kind of mpg.
Did get better mpg when the bike was stock? Also were all of the changes made at one time or individualy. I am thinking the PCIII is your problem. I get about 42 on my 09 UC with close to the same setup.
-I have 15000 miles on the mile (ALL put on by me)
-Had NO BETTER MPG stock
-Did all the mods at once and then did the dyno..however I had a bad PCIII. When the new one arrived I had the bike re-dyno'ed
-As of now am happy with the Magnecor wires...understand that the plugs will make no difference.
I will be changing out both however seeing that most people say it will not screw up my dyno and I am willing to try this to see if there is ANY difference in MPG.
How do the plugs that are in it now look? If they're healthy, a plug & wire change isn't going to make a difference. If they're not, then there's something else going on.
