Building on Scorpions idea, (sweet sketch by the way) you could bring out the bottom edge of the box to lessen the huge step from the fins to the box. This would make the lines flow nicely and lessen the step at the same time.
I wonder if there is a way to smooth the latch and hinges out and put a hidden latch under the rear of the deck lid.
