I use a Condor wheel chock and that allows the tie down to be a 1 man 5 minute job. I use (powertyes) 2 ratchet straps with built in soft ties around the front forks above where the front fender bolts to them and out to the front corners of my trailer. That alone is almost enough but i also use 2 straps around the passenger floor boards and 2 more around the rear tire. This holds the bike down and forward into the chock and allows it to ride its own suspension.
Front end, I use soft straps around where the fender bolts to the lowers. That way your not compressing your suspension. I also use a Condor type wheel chock.
Rear end, I go through my rear wheel with two straps and tie off on each side so there's no side to side movement.
I had mine in the hauler and strapped the front from the engine guard just behind the fairing support on each side. On the back I looped a strap through the rim and strapped it down on each side. The Front wheel was in a chock and bike in gear.
Since I installed the lowers, this method will not work any longer. I guess I will keep an eye on this thread to see what others are doing as well.
I just Hauled my RG from California to Florida in the back of my pickup. I tied the front down by going around the frame above the engine guards, and i tied the rear down by using the chrome bar that runs across my rear fender up top. Not the bag bars. I also blocked the frame and did not use the kick stand. I rode like a dream and the straps never came loose. I went to my local hd dealer and asked if I could purchase one of the pallets that Harley ships the bike on. This fit snugly in the bed of my truck and has wheel chocks to boot. Good luck.
