103 Build Begins
Congrats RDM.
FWIW - When I did mine, before I started it I pulled the plugs and cranked it over with the starter until the oil pressure gauge came up. Only took about 5 or 6 cycles of 3 seconds on 5 seconds off with the starter.

I ended up paying an hour labor plus the cost of the SE CRs. I got 20% off list for the CRs. Tax and all was like $150. I took them in the morning and had them back at lunch.
After a long discussion with a local builder I decided to leave the heads alone for now. If I get the itch to go bigger with this one, I'll have the heads done to match whatever kit I decide on. The key to me was wanting the heads to match with a bigger build when/if I go there.

The Ultra Limited does not have 255 cams, they have the same cams that are in the 96" bikes. Our final numbers on our Ultra Limited were 99Hp/106Tq, however this was not with just a cam change. It included a wide range of upgrades including swapping the stock mufflers and restrictive catalyst head pipe with the Jackpot 2/1/2 and Jackpot Dyno tuned mufflers, replacing the stock air cleaner with a Stage 1, and for engine management the Dynojet PC-V with several hours of dyno tuning. Each of these mods did their part to add to the end result, however the cams added approx +15Hp/6Tq to the combination.

Right now I have the Dyno Tuned Jackpots, the FM A/C, PCV and Auto Tune. I just ordered the Woods cams, pushrods and install kit.
I've been contemplating the 2/1/2 head pipe, but I haven't seen any information that shows the relative benefits of using it. I realize that it is part of an overall system, but what level of performance increase would I be looking at if I were to add it to my current set up?

The Jackpot 2/1/2 really helps performance, especially low end torque. These gains are primarily a result of the large diameter "tandem flow" merge collector in this pipe. The dyno chart below is a specific back to back test between the stock headpipe and the Jackpot 2/1/2 on a 2009 bike equipped with Jackpot Dyno Tuned mufflers, a stage 1 air cleaner and PC-V. The headpipe will work equally well with your Woods cams. We have several other charts on the Jackpot website for these pipes as well.
I am mechanically inclined but like my ducks in order. So a couple of questions if I may:
I have the SE 103 kit (but am considering S&S 106), Andrews 26H and bearings, Barnet clutch kit with heavy spring, SE push rods, not sure on the compression releases yet , probably will send them up to Vulcan in NH for the mechanical CRs but plan on calling the dealer first. Anyway….
Can I pry the circlips off that hold the pistons on without a special tool?
Will I need the dealer to flash the computer or will the PCIII be able to compensate?
Can I do the compression releases myself without the jig or make a homemade one? I mean shoot a drill bit and tap. I should be able to find the instructions on line somewhere as far as depth and angle.
Good work here, thanks for the help and inspiration.

Well, I just bought a 2010 FLHTCU. I am going to have the 103 kit with the 255 cams, their SE slippons.
SO...do the 2010 stock bikes come with compression releases already installled? I think I read that the Limited versions do....
ANd if not, is the wiring harness already there? I couldn't find a part number for 09's or 10's....
Finally, what is the general experience with the dealer download for this kit vs a tuner? I've obviously used the tts tuner successfully. (See signature) But if the download will work,....might just save the money for a tuner, etc. for awhile....
Thanks!
