Chroming?
Might help if you told us what part you're talkin' about. Quality stainless can be polished to look like chrome. I have a coil cover that was welded up out of stainless. I took some time fine sanding & polishing about 15 years ago, & most people think it's chrome today.
You can't chrome stainless.
You CAN chrome stainless.. You have to nickel coat it first.. Here's the place in Grand Rapids MI that I have had do it for me...

Yes - stainless steel can be plated. Results may vary depending upon the type of stainless and the process used. I suggest you consult a good chroming company. If you lived in this area I'd suggest Queen City Plating.

Badpiggy - before you say it can't be done one more time (and no offense meant - we can't all be right all of the time):

OP - given the size of what you're plating I'd give Queen City a call as it'd be easy to ship - they're really good and do a great deal of work for the car collectors in this area. If you're unfamiliar with the Puget Sound area this is a hot bed of custom and historic car collection.
