Now pulling a trailer - Need more power. Recommendations?
Hi all,
I ride an 05' Ultra with a stock motor and exhaust with 31k mileage. I recently bought a roll-a-home camper trailer to pull. I have a dependable indy near by that I use for servicing. I would like more power but it has to be dependable.
What do you folks recommend; equipment and brands? Thanks in advance for your suggestions It is appreciated.
(P.S. Since I took these pictures, I have lowered the receiver to make the trailer level.)

I would start with a Stage 1 and see how you like that. From there you could go with cams. I have been pulling a trailer for about 8 years never did anything but a Stage 1.
My 01 Ultra had air filter, slip-on mufflers, 95 inch bore and a HD down load flash and nothing else, dependable tractor pulling power at all times.

I would do standard 95" with SE flattops and a low end cam like Andrews 26G if your crank runout is in spec, if not do the Andrews 26 conversion cam. Get the TTS tuner or SEST
depends on what you want to spend. My '03 ultra is now a 95" w/ SE204 cams, PCIII, V&H 2 into 1, heavy breather, and pulls a trailer all day long in any conditions without issue.

Sounds like a really good combo. I've got the factory headpipe and Rinehart slip ons. I'm wondering how much difference there is between a 2 into 1 vs. my combo.
Cams, exhaust, hi-flo a/c, tuner, dyno time, larger displacement, etc. are all good suggestions, but the $$$ add up fast.
Your bike has 3.15:1 primary gearing. You can lower the gearing (higher numerical ratio) and multiply torque faster using HD's 3.37:1 primary gearing (which was OEM on early EFI HD Touring models, '99-'01) or Baker Transmissions 23T compensating sprocket/chain kit. Both are easy swaps and provide a 9% increase in torque (think of it as a lower first gear than you currently have). Baker's product is in this link and you can read what they say about its advantages:
