I can get a Zumo 550 GPS that has the XM capability built into it for about 600.00. So, I guess you could say that the GPS costs about 125.00 over the price of the module. I really only listen to 3 different stations, so I guess I wouldn't miss the hand controls that much?

The Zumo is XM capable, you still have to buy the puck. All though you can find it for around $100. This way you can also get weather and traffic.

I've read the installation pdf and it doesn't even mention the part number ending in 72. Thanks for the help!

i haven't heard any of the different options, but i was thinking of getting the xm module for my aftermarket radio. it only runs about $80.00.

i was using the little roady in the truck, connected with the rca connections (the fm modulator is finicky and doesn't sound as good) and the sound quality sucked. the sound quality of the xm in my wife's car is awesome, so i'm leaning towards the module.

I ordered the XM Radio Kit (part 76404-06) from Lake Shore Harley for $399.96. This is for my 2009 Street Glide. Is there any additional parts that I need? Others have posted about needing a "harness," but I wasn't aware from the Harley accessories description that I needed to order anything else. Can anyone comment?

Yeah you're going to have to have a harness even for the SG.

You are correct that it is not in the XM module installation guide, but unless you plan on adding additional components such as Nav the part number I listed will work for the xm module.

Cut and pasted from Harley web site (do search for wire harness). Check for your application or consult with your dealer. (I did)

I use a Sirius Sportster mounted on the handlebars and then plugged into the Aux Input on the Biketronic Stereo. (I'm in the process of seeing if I can wire it to the back through the Bus Input since the fairing is off.)

I did it this way because I can move the unit to the truck, house and office with only one subscription. I have volume control this way but not station control. But, I don't change channels often so no big deal to me.

I had the XM on my 07 CVO & have on both of our cages. Only problem on the CVO was that the reception wasn't the greatest. My buddy has XM on his Zumo 550 and we were travelling through the hills of Tennessee on the bikes. I lost rception quite a bit where his with the Zumo didn't lose any reception. I hope that that either have a better receiver for the XM or put it in a different location in the fairing so the reception is better. Let us know how the reception is when you use it on the backroads.
