Trying to decide which HD I want. I am really looking at the Street glide. One thing Ive read is that is under powered. For those who have one, how do you feel about the power and ride?
The wife rides a 09 Heritage and we mainly take 2-4 hr trips. Looking at the Black Denim also, love the look. Any problems with paint?
You can have all the power you want with some upgrades. It's hard to say if you will be happy with the power since most people ride differn't, for me I think the stock bikes are way under powered but I know people that are really happy with their stock bikes. The black denim is a great color, just make sure you don't wax it.
I have the '10 SG. I thought the stock setup was fast enough for me. I really don't spend much time over 80MPH but I do like getting there pretty quickly. I added the SE AC, V&H Slip-on and a PCV programmed by Fuel Moto. Now the big is fast. It pulls hard and even my wife complained because if I span the throttle he head jerks back and she says it hurts her neck. I told her sorry but I chuckled under my breath because that is cool. But it's fast IMO.
Under powered??????
Stock it smokes Dynas even with the true duals everyone said I will lose power with.
Only problem with paint is it gets messed up when cages run you off the road at 70.
Like I said, it's all in how you ride. I don't care for stock bikes. I like the feeling of the rear tire breaking free and the fishtailing, or when it hooks the front end coming up. To each his own I guess.
I have an 2010 sg scarlet red , i dont feel its under powered and love the ride ,Only problem i have is wind turbulance in my glass with stock 4' windsheild ,sloved problem by putting strap on my glasss . Good luck

Smokes Dynas? Considering they have the same engine as you and are about 200 pounds lighter....
Maybe, just maybe the dynas you raced were just not into racing that day...maybe they wanted a day off from smoking 900 pound touring bikes?
Seriously though. Stock for Stock, all the Dynas I've owned will smoke any of the Touring bikes I own.
Thanks all and Bfrank good info. I do not really plan on going over 80 much unless I really need too. I will replace the exhaust with some V&H, I really like how Waugh has this one setup http://www.waughhd.com/php-bin/ecomm...8&next_id=4572
It has Split exhaust down both sides.
Sounds like the power is just fine.
Still thinking about waiting until August to see what HD does with the new models.....
