I have no problem saying the TW6-6 cams are no louder than the stock cams, and we have installed them on a wide range of bikes. The opening and closing numbers are not what causes valvetrain noise, it depends greatly on how gradual the opening/closing ramps are. Unlike some of Wood's more agressive cams with higher lift and duration, the TW6-6 the ramps are very moderate. Depending on how far they break down the check lift, this aspect is very difficult to determined by looking at a basic cam spec sheet. However cam characteristics can be much better predicted by looking at a a cam chart as shown below. These charts are much more helpful and put the cam timing and overlap events into much better perspective.

Palatium,
As far as the fuel milage goes, I haven't checked, since I was playing with the throttle a little more than normal. Once the weather gets better and I am not playing with the throttle will let you know.

The andrews adjustable pushrods say to go 2.5 to 4 turns once they are in and seated against the rocker arm and lifter, once the lifter is on the bottom stroke, I read on here on the of the threads tht Bob Wood recommended going 4.5 turns. Followed the directions that came with the pushrods that Andrews puts in the package.
For as the part number for the pushrods, would need to ask Jamie or Keith, they were the Chrome Moloy pushrods.
OBTW--the exhaust in now a little louder and a little more throat to them, I have the Rush mufflers with true duals from Python.

After reading this post I am more confused with the op saying it is more quiet than stock. I recently purchased a set of dyno tuned Jackpots and at this point not sure if they are too loud ( 10 miles on them so far due to weather ). That is an easy fix with the quiet baffles if I decide they are too loud. Any way I like the dyno results I have seen with the 6-6 and would be installing them on a 96 with SEST. Can anyone else speak on the valve terrain noise with these cams and if so is there a fix such as head work ( valve springs, roller rockers, lifters, ect. )? One more question, my local dealer has never installed them so should I look for a wrench with exp with these cams?

Thanks for any info
Sath,
He should have no problem installing them, they shouldn't be any different than any other CAM install. If your moco mechanic has done any CAM install before then it shouldn't be that hard for him to do. They have all the special tools that are needed to do this. Heck I did them, and by no means am I a certified harley mechanic. Just got a little help from a buddy on the pushrods to help, so one could turn the motor over while the other adjusted the push rods. The CAM install was pretty much straight foward. Just be careful on the CAM tensioner screws, they can strip out easy. Speaking of tensioner, the nylon or plastic shoe that rides against the chain looked new with no wear.
I was thinking of doing the gear set on the CAMS and talked to Bob Wood, said there was no need as Harley had improved the CAM plate and tensioner from previous models.
Hope this helps.

Mac

I guess my question was geared more toward a tuner with expierence with these cams. Problem solved today though, called my shop today and got the same old spill, 255s, we only recommend HD parts and this is what we are doing for everyone and everyone likes them. Never heard of a Wood cam and if you chose to do install anything else it will void your engine warranty. In other words if you don't use what we sell F u....

Made a second call to another dealer ( about 3.5 hrs away ) total different story. He was very knowledable about cams different cams and said the 6-6 is a good cam that would work as a bolt in and they would cover my warranty. He did not recommend the 255s, he had had them installed on his bike and took them out. He also started quoting discount prices over the phone( without me asking ), to start with a SEST for $597..... I know you are thinking what I was but then he continued by saying that was the price for the SEST and a dyno tune which would normally cost over $800 for both. I was smiling at that point then he stated $450 in labor which I am ok with. When I asked him about their sevice dept schedule he said it was slow for them right now and could get my bike in the shop tomorow with a 2 to 3 day turn around and that they would be GLAD to work on my bike honoring my warranty and their work. Tomorrow won't happen because of work and weather but I do believe I have found a shop The service manager is supposed to call me tomorrow to firm up some details. Now I just need to borrow my buddies trailor... I feel a sick day coming on next week

Jamie,

I'd come and see you if you were a little closer. Don't think I didn't map quest a ride to your shop. ( 752 miles one way) My only question is if I decide after the cam install that the dyno tuned jackpots are too loud would I have to re dyno after I installed the quiet baffles? Not that they are too loud, if it was anything less I would had been disappointed. Did 4k miles with the stock mufflers and 10 miles with the Jackpots, still trying to decide but the weather is not helping.

Glad you found a shop to work with. Thank you for considering our services, I agree 752 miles each way is a hike (the actual record for distance is from a customer that drove from Maine to get a complete package installed and a dyno tune). For the mufflers, give them 100+ miles to break in and if you feel you want to quiet it a bit you can add the quiet baffle which will not require retuning.

Smile Dyno Tuned Today

Well took the bike to Thunder Tower HD in Pontiac SC, the HP was 76 and Torque was 90.
Had to do alot of adjusting to the power commander, but you can really fill it now.
I am not getting the 103 tq and 92 hp that was boasted about, but still happy.
Thanks to Jason for the Dyno Tune.

Will Post the Sheets as soon as I get them scaned in.
Will also post as a comparison the SE 110 with 255 Rinehart true duals.
The numbers for it are Max Power 82 and Torque is 102

So I really don't fill bad about the decision to use wood cams.
