If by saying "the bike doesnt like rain" you mean you don't ride in the rain I'd say sure go ahead. I'm assuming you're going to use a K&N filter anyway . . .

My air cleaner is completely open like this one... I have been caught in the rain before and unless it is not really pouring down hard the bike still ran fine... however I did get caught in a bad down pour and after about 5-10 miles the bike did sputter a couple times but has been fine since.

Most open breathers offer a rain sock. If not, fashion your own. Otherwise your bike will melt, much like the the wicked witch in the wizard of oz.

I run with an open air filter in Seattle/Tacoma area. My bike is not scared of the rain, and I haven't had any problems other than an occasional sputter if it's REALLY wet.

I have run an open filter for several years now. I have used a big sucker and now have a screamin eagle. My bike is rode and I have been through some bad storms and it has not bothered my bike. I also have a carb bike. I rode through one of the worst rains ever for 250 miles back from Nashville and bike never sputtered.

if you are running fairing lowers there shouldn't be a problem even in the heaviest down pour,if you are not there is a possibility of water saturation and a temporarily poor running bike until it dries out ,no big deal though.

Never had a issue in the rain with my current setup or with a foward facing open element on another bike

Got caught in a TORRENTIAL downpour out of Tucumcareh, NM riding RT66. I couldn't see 5ft in front of me doing 80mph trying to keep from getting run over by 18-wheelers and the bike never missed a lick!
