New Bars for RK
Okay, so I'm a short guy with not so long arms and my stock bars on my police RK pull me forward a bit more than I like. My dealer mentioned the mini-ape hangers for a solution to the problem, but did not have a pair in stock to look at. Wondering who has these and what they think and if possible, any pics of them on a bike. Also, any other recomendations. Thanks Guys
I am in the same boat at 5'9". I didint much like to reach bars so I had these 12" wild1 bars installed. I couldnt be happier. They are not too high as my hands are 3 or so inches below shoulder level.
Hope this helps

Gunwiz a lot of folks put heritage softail bars on the RK, I did and I reallly like them, they put the grips back probably a couple inches and it really makes a difference. you don't have to extend your cables and no more leaning over and getting that burn between your shoulders after riding for a couple hours. Good luck. Stafford.
I am 6-3 and installed Wlid 1 515 apes 12.5" I love them. Internally wired and upgraded to SS lines. Not sure about keeping your stock lines though. I strated to go with Heritage bars, but the apes were a better fit for me.

Its funny I found your message today because..... I just purchased an 07 RK and could not believe how uncomfortable the original bars were. I purchased the Heritage Softail bars for $49 and a pair of new grips. I did the project myself and it took about 2 hours. I ride a Police RK at work all day and thats the same bars they have from the factory. If your local HD dealer has a used/new Police RK you can try it out before purchasing. Just keep in mind that the Police RK seats sit a little higher than civilian RK. Good Luck.
I have the "Reduced reach" handlebars on my flhri. I put them on myself. It took many more hours than it would have taken a mechanic, but doing my own work is rewarding, plus the bike was just sitting in the garage for the winter anyway. I really like that they are higher than the stock. Much more comfortable. There is no way that I (at 5'7') would have been comfortable on long trips without them. You do not need the extension kit they recomend. Use the $ to buy some chrome grips. Just unhook the clamps in the nacelle to get the slack you need. Take your time, use the service manual, and if the horn beeps when you turn on your brights, just switch the wires. Here are pics of them.

I have an 06 Road King, I installed a set of Heritage Bars, and a sundowner seat. The Seat gives me the "Down in the bike feel" and the Bars put my hands just below chest level. Its a Great ride!
And, dont let ANY STEALER tell you that you have to replace the cables, or brake line. Only thing i had to do was bend the brake line a little where it comes out of the frt.brk. master cyl. on the bars. and the bend is so slight, you dont even notice it.
Heritage bars on a Road King works GREAT for me!
