Watch the weight of the trailer. Mine's tandem axle and heavy metal (vs aluminum) and I get between 10 and 12 mpg on the highway with an F150 (which makes us question whether to trailer or just ride.)
Considering your pulling a trailer with two large bikes in it, 10-12 MPG is not that bad. I'm pulling a 7x14 v-nose with my Dodge Dakota with a high output V-8 and get about the same hauling 2-3 bikes. When you pull any kind of trailer, MPG goes out the window. If we wanted to save money, we wouldn't being riding Harley Davidson's.....

Agree with HDV-Glide; you should expect to get low mileage dragging a wagon. I have a 7x14 V nose and it fits 2 full size stagered inside with plenty of storage space. I wired in some 110 lights and shelves in the front, insulated the roof and the trailer will double as a place to bed down if need be. Can plug in to house current for creature comfort if need be for tunes, lights etc...

My Dodge Ram with the 5.9L drops to 16mpg with the trailer. 13 if I put the big camper on it and pull the trailer. That's all in the mtns, I don't know how it would do on the flats.

Hmmmm... thought mine was 8x12, now I'll have to measure it. Haulmark. Using it as a "garage" while stationed on Parris Island. Couldn't see point of paying $100 a month for 3 years... bought mine used for $3000. Came out ahead & bike is parked right behind the BOQ. Works great.

I roll with a 7x16 but I haul 3 bikes.. if I had to do it over I'd go with a 8.5x 20-24.. just makes it easer.. but for 2 bikes the 20-24 ft may be over kill,, it also depends on your tow vehical to...

Nope... In fact ran across them by accident when I was living in South Carolina.

Am not sure which tie downs you mean. Most trailers come with a 5K tie down, some with a backing plate, some without. Can you provide a picture of what I should not be getting. Thanks

I've got a 7X14 enclosed trailer, and it's none too big for two dressers. Bigger is better as said above, and you'll still need to stagger them to make it work safely.

I was going to buy a 7x14, but when I spec'ed it out, the 7x16 was $100 more so I went that route. I have torsion axles and the trailer rides real smooth. my bikes are staggared 2 feet so the engine guards dont hit.
