Sundowner seat issue?

Sundowner seat issue?

So I took my Sundowner seat off of my '05 Road King Custom to charge the battery. When I did, I noticed that, where the passenger pillion part of the seat makes contact with the fender, the paint is getting damaged. Why in the world would H-D design a seat so that the plastic comes in direct contact with the fender? The more I fiddle with this bike, the more disappointed I am with the installation details that H-D seems to neglect. I would think that they would at least put some rubber bumpers or plastic sheeting between the seat bottom and the fender.

Has anyone else noticed this issue with the Sundowner seat?

Best guess is that you will find the same problem with nearly every seat, perhaps barring the spring style.

I put a solo sundowner on my 06 streetglide and it actually rubbed the bags. sold it. put a full sundowner on and it rubbed the top of the side covers, AND the tank had scuffs.. have an 09 now with a sundowner and it scuffs in places also.. The fix for me.... I just ride, enjoy, and hope the next owner does the same.... guess I'm just not so careing anymore. BUT I do know what you mean, you would think that everything would be perfect considering the price we pay... just my 2 pennies.
