I have owned EGs for about 11 years. I have tried them all. Continental, Avon, Metzzler, Michelin & OEM Dunlops. I seem to have better service and ride from the Dunlops. The COntinental was probable the next best. Only problem with that tire is mileage. The Avon split between the treads. The Michelin wasn't a bad tire, again mileage issues. The Metzzler developed a handling issue when it was about 75% worn. I seem to have the best luck with the Dunlop.
YOU CANT GO WRONG WITH DUNLOP. PERSONALLY, I THINK METZLER IS A BETTER TIRE AND CERTAINLY GETS BETTER MILAGE. BUT WHEN YOU ARE ON THE ROAD AND NEED A TIRE, DEALERS WILL HAVE A DUNLOP BUT PROBABLY NOT A METZLER. I DO A LOT OF INTERSTATE TRAVEL SO I STSY WITH DUNLOPS.
I recently went with Avon Roadrunners verses the Dunlop 402's I have been happy with the Avon tires. When it comes time to replace both, I think I want to try the New Dunlop Elite III's. I haven't really been satisfied with the 402.
been running oem 402 for 15 years...get good mileage and handle not too bad also....
however the most important to me is when I'm traveling any HD shop will have replacements......
Would be interested in trying the new Dunlop Elite 3 though...
Have tried & use other brands on other bikes...however for the long haul the 402 do the trick..........
