Default Sidekick 2-up Seat Problem

Help. I purchased a new H-D Sidekick 2-up Seat for my 2010 SG, and when I went to install it I found that it leaves a gap between the seat and console of about 0.25" to 0.50". I know the rear hold down bracket has adjustment, but I can't push the seat any farther forward no mater how hard I try. Has anyone else experienced this?

Have you tried to adjust the bracket?

Let me ask the obvious please.

Are you sure they gave you the correct seat?

There's a '97-07 model and one for '08 and later. Have you verified they gave you the right one?

Not trying to be a smart a$$. It's happened before.

If your talking about the bracket on the back of the seat then no. The back bracket isn't the problem. I could adjust the rear bracket to work once I got the front where I wanted it, but I can't get the front far enough forward.

It didn't come in a box, so I guess it is possible they gave me the wrong seat. I bought it online from a dealership that was trying to get it out of their inventory and all it had on it was a tag (looked like it was printed at the dealership) with the part number that's supposed to fit my bike.

Let me ask this since I don't know. How could I tell the difference in a seat for a 97-07 bike and a seat for a 08-10 bike? Is the mounting system different underneath?

Any and all help is appreciated. I bought it from a dealer online, so it's not like I can run back down there and tell them I want to try a different one.

That would not even be possible as one has the tongue on the seat and the groove on the frame (97-07) and the other has the opposite. You can't get seat years mixed up and not know it immediately.

An 07 seat has a tongue on the bottom front that fits into a slot on the frame of the bike.My 09 is the opposite.

So it looks like I have the right seat, maybe it's just a problem with the seat itself. Don't know what to do now except pay to ship it back to the dealer, if they are willing to take it back.

I stand corrected. Is there a local dealer that may have this seat so that you could compare the two to figure out where the problem lies?
