Is it just me, but I don't see the big deal in the new motor : 92.6 vs 86.0. My guess is if you did not know what bike you were on, you would be hard pressed to know the difference! Kinda like the SYN oil deal...probably more an emotional responce than actual, physical difference in performance. Kinda like how my car drives better after a car wash!

The 96 has the 103 stroker crank with the 88 bore. The stroker engine provide more torq in off throttle. HP is nice but torq gets the work done. The stroker lets you roll around a corner in second gear without down shifting. The sixth gear or OD ia great on the hiway on long runs. If you don't do long runs why have a bagger?
This seems to be the developing consensus. I cannot speak on it intelligently yet as I haven't been on a bike with the new motor and trans, but on the MOCO's website, the press release calls this one of the most significant motor upgrades in the history of the company. [sm=dontgetit.gif]
There is a spec sheet out there with all the improvements. It's a little more than just displacement. Mostly they addressed some of the higher failure/weak items (cam, EFI, Primary, Starter, gearing etc).
It's like hell getting HD to improve anything.. so any change that might be an improvement is pretty exciting. Plus 96'ers can get into a 103 for less or around the same 88'ers can get into a 95. I think that in itself is pretty cool.
NOT TO MENTION THE SWEET-AS$ 6 speed... booooyahh!

LP...I'm with on that. If I was buying New, sure I'll take all the goodies (even catalytic and O2 sensors). However, If I had just bought a new 05 or 06, not sure I would do it. Lots of new goodies on the 07, but most guys would lose tradin in value and all the extras thay have already done to there current bike, normal thousand of dollars. BUT, you on live once.....
