I can't say I heard that much difference when I changed to the hogtunes speakers (all 4) on my ultra. They were crisper sounding but no better in the bass sound. I don't blame the speakers though. I think the HK radio filters all the lows out (probably to prevent distorting the crappy stock speakers).
I'm sure there is probably a software method to adjust this but I can't find it. The Bass control on the radio doesn't do much.

The factory speakers have a soft dome tweeter which generally provides smooth highs whereas the piezo tweeters in the hogtunes are generally used to fry the brains of lab rats.
You won't get the full fidelity of a home stereo system. I think the benefit of the Hog-tunes speakers is you can crank the volume up at 75 mph and here your music without distortion.
You can never get good bass on a bike...........it's just not possible.
With an open area there is nothing to keep the bass tight, and since bass is non-directional it is just going to disappear away from the bike. You get great bass in a car or your home due mostly to the structure itself. The bass needs an enclosure to work properly, and since the bike has no enclosure.........it just isn't going to work.
HogTunes are great, I put all 4 on my Ultra and it made a huge difference. They will not give better bass, but what they give is much clearer, crisper, and louder sound from say 80 hz-20k hz.
you aren't going to experience the fidelity of a home stereo with any stereo system on your harley. I think the benefit of the Hog-tune speakers is that you can hear the music while going 75 mph without distortion.
If I remember correctly, eariler this year a post was made about this problem. It seems that there is an A/B switch under the right?? hand control switch housing that is sometimes in the wrong position from the factory. Some dealers know about it and some don't. Changing the position will bring out the bass. Maybe do a search above on A/B switch.
just did a search on A/B switch, then go to page 9, scroll down to road tech radio MP3 switch. I think all baggers with a radio have this switch.
I guess I would disagree with the statement that you can never get good bass on the bike. My last bike was a softail and I installed an amp in one of the saddle bags. I took two spotlight housings (chrome) and istalled some Blaupunkt speakers in them and mounted them on the handle bars. I drove the amp with a little mp3 player. Even with the smaller speakers (smaller than the ones on my ultra) the system had much more bass. I'd be willing to be that if I yanked the HK radio out and istalled a regular car stereo, the bass would be much better.
HK uses a DSP to do all their audio processing. That would have made it very easy for them to kill all the audio response below some frequency. I could see them doing that to prevent (or reduce) overdriving the crappy stock speakers.
I have the 2 hog tunes speakers on my Street glide. Has anyone tried adding the Hog Tunes amp to the stock HK radio ? Also, does the in fairing antenna work as good as the stock ? I have my SG torn down now getting the sheet metal all painted (I canât believe Harley does not make the SC in bright Red) and I am trying to come up with other mods to make while it is in 100 pieces in my garage.

I have the Hog Tunes Amp on My 05 EGlide and it works great (worth the money).I also have a hidden antenna that seems to work just as good as the stock one.I very seldom listen to anything other than cd's or XM but every time I tune to FM it works fine.
