I did a search on this and didn't find quite what I was after. Maybe I just haven't found it, yet. I was wondering what is the average cost of a 5000 mi. service on my '05 FLHTI at a dealer, assuming no unusual cicumstances (the '05-'06 oil consumption stories have me a little nervous)? Thanks
Thanks. At least I know what ballpark I'm playing in. Wouldn't surprise me if they gave me those VA numbers. These guys do a LOT of business at a $75.00/hr. labor rate.
If you have the factory service manual, you can turn to the page that lists the items to be serviced and the interval between those services.
It is easy to see the number of hours to do a service and figure the rate. Do the math. Factory service is expensive. It is even more expensive when you pay to have the job done and all they do is change the fluids and filter.
Find someone you trust, (preferably yourself) and stay with them for service. It is cheaper in the long run to do the maintenance rather than repairs.
I have paid for my 1,000 and 5,000 mile services from the local HD agency, but when I did my own 10,000 service I discovered the steering head bearing had no been lubed, the throttle cables had not been lubed and I suspect the critical fasteners had not been re-torqued.
I will be doing all my service from here on out.
Oh yes, How much? The 5,000 service was $236 with synthetic.
I noticed differences here in Va no matter where you go.Orange,Va 250.00 and Lynchburg,Va
280.00 w/o syn.Shenadoah, don't waste my time anymore. Some say they just do more than othersLOL.I need to take a trip to Canada.....
