I'm going to have to see about finding an aluminum rod and handfiling it down it that's the only way to do it.
I used an old screwdriver - ground it and bent it according to the specs in the manual.

unless you want to take the chance of getting hurt because of handling irregularities...follow the procedures in the service manual for this. Also check for any tech bulletins where the swing away test has been modified since the printing of the service manual.
the Steering Head bearings are the only link between the front and rear of the motorcycle. your life could depend on proper adjustment.

Default 1 Last Question(Until The Next One)

I didn't get a chance to do this yet but hope to this weekend. I have the manual & Fix My Hog DVD.

Watching the DVD, they take off the throttle & idle cables and the clutch cable. And then they do the swing test.

In the manual, this is not mentioned. It's just "get bike up off ground and perform swing test and here's how far it should swing to be correct".

Should the cables be removed before doing the swing test on a 2007 FLHTC?

TIA Folks!!

There is a more practicle way, run it down the road, get to 50 mph and let go of the bars but keep your hands close to the grips, as you deccell from 50 down to 30 it should stay steady. If it starts to wobble the bars back and forth it is loose!

Always final check with the fall away meathod though, new spec is stopping in the 4th swing, old was in the 3rd. I like to set mine to stop at the end of the 2nd swing!
