is there a big difference in the looks department between an tour pack from 93 and 08? I've never seen em side by side before. is the older packs more box like or have they stayed the same? Thanks for the help people.

I believe the size is identical, the older models - 80's to 90 something the interior has some small compartments molded into the front of the pak toward the passengers back. The older models have lights on the bottom edges on R and L sides. Some of the newer ones have lights across the back while the older models are flush with no lights or anything.
I'd suggest looking at eBay. You'll see pics of both styles.
Take a look at the accessories in the P&A catalog for fitment information. For example, the Utra light bar kit, p/n 68012-88E fits '88-05 King tour paks. You can conclude the the rear of the bottom of the tour paks is the same for those years.
And, if you can look at the tour pak chrome trim kit, p/n 59239-93, which fits '89 and newer tour paks with the Ultra light bar, you can conclude that the light bar for '06 and newer tour paks and those for '88-'05 in the preceding paragaraph differ in their electrical connectors, not in the light bar itself, or the shape of the tour pak bottom to which they attach.
Similarly, the backrsts for tour paks seem to be different for '97 and newer and '96 and older. I had an older model and the difference seemed to be in the mounting holes for the backrest.
'06 and newer King tour paks have a relatively flat bottom with the nuts that secure the metal plate inside the tour pak recessed. In the '05 and older tour paks, the bottom is formed with ribs and the nuts are visible.
There's a lot you can do for yourself by checking these accessories and the many others available for tour paks to determine what, if any, difference there is between tour paks.
