I need some help from those of you pulling a heavy trailer. I'm confused which hitch (brand & Style) to order. I've ordered a Bunkhouse tent camper with hydraulic disc brakes to be pulled with my 2008 RG. The RG has the SG rear light treatment which I'd like to keep. (See pic below) Does anyone have a hitch recommendation for my bike?
Also, other than appearance what are the advantages/disadvantages of the hidden hitch vs standard hitch?
I used one from Drag Specialties for many years. The last bike I had it on was a 2005 Road Glide. It will not fit my 2010, or i would have put it on there too. However, since my wife has her own Road Glide now, with Tour Pak, I no longer have to haul her stuff, so no longer pull a trailer. The Drag hitch looked great, and if I needed another, that is what I would buy.
Hitchdoc http://www.hitchdoc.com/index.php and
MCHitch http://www.mchitch.com/
Are two that I have used. I have used all of these on various Ultra's I've owned. Personal preference is for the HitchDoc Hitch because it was hidden but I am not sure if they make a hitch for your RG with that style fender... call them and ask you never know what may happen...
I have a Mchitch on my RG. The "hidden" design is slick. Very
solid unit and was easy to install.
Give them a call, they are great to deal with.
Also, good job on picking the Bunkhouse!!!
