I've found 3-06 Street Glides and am starting talking prices with the differant dealers. Today's dealer quoted me 19,386 out the door which I thought was high. The bike is cobolt blue and has the alarm deal on it and is injected. What do you guys think of the first price? Personally I think there is allot of room for negotiating on this one. They only had one 07 Street Glide on the floor and it was denim blue....[:'(]
Also, I asked about putting after market pipes on a 07 and the salesman told me if the pipe would fit a 06 it will fit a 07....anybody know if this is true or not?
I dont think that it is a bad price. With a bottom MSRP of $17,800,,, by the time you ad taxes (say 7% or so) and tags, you still end up at $19,100 and that doesnt include the regular rip off stuff, like set up fees and bendover fees. I say go for it. I think its a pretty good deal out the door.
That's not a bad price if you are trying to not pay over MSRP. MSRP is $18000 or so, plus tax, title, etc.
Don't even think you are paying freight or set up fees, or if you are, they appear nominal. Look up the 2006 specs on the net and it will give you MSRP. Get a break down of what's in the price and you will know.
Now if it includes factory alarm, you are doing ok.
On the other hand, some dealers are making very good deals on the 06's especially if they have a few to move. I did not price a SG, but I could have gotten $1000+ off MSRP on an Electra Glide if I had went with an 06.
Talk to the service manager and ask if they will install the aftermarket pipes and be able to tune the motor so it runs good. I would also make sure the dealer is not on the bad dealer list.
Heard a couple things today from the dealer on the '07 models. Mods are still on, but if you add slip ons, they will no longer do the stage 1 download. This dealer told me that it will void the warranty unless you have them add the slip ons and they install a SERT and bring the mixture to EPA specs. Evidently, HD got themselves in a ringer with offering the Stage 1 downloads last year and in previous years to "fatten" things up after putting on a pipe.... by all rights making the vehicle richer and thus no longer EPA compliant. This is just what the sales guy told me. He said that all mods are still OK as far as ppes and so forth, but for them to do it, they had to install a SERT and make it emission "complaint" when it rolls out of the shop. He also mentioned that the '07s had a catalytic converter built into the mufflers and that all after market slip ons will need to do the same if you want them to do the work.... otherwise it "voids the warranty" - said with a wink. So........ just what I heard. ture or not, that's what he told me.
The "out the door" price is a meaningless figure to compare without knowing what you are paying for tax, title and license fees in your area. It would be a lot clearer if you could report the dealer controlled cost only, ie price of the bike plus any freight, set-up or miscellaneous fees.
