Hey guys, I am at wits end; I have a vibration that started around 4000 miles ago, only in corners. Seems to be whenever the tires are off plane so I thought wheel bearings, did a change but found nothing and still there, could it be tires? Does it no matter the road surface type or smoothness.
I notice and can feel no cupping, the rear is coming due in about 2000-3000 more miles.
I spent 6 months trouble shooting the same issue on my 00 EGC 2 years ago. Running straight down the road it was fine, in any turn or even leaning to change lanes the bike would shake/vibrate. I changed tires, wheel bearings, motor mount, checked swing arm, etc etc. The last thing I did was a full vehicle alignment by the book (with home made tools, I'm cheap) in my garage and that fixed it, as soon as I pulled out of my driveway on the test drive I knew that was it. Not saying that is your issue but it was mine. PM me and I'll give you my cell number and we can talk. Good luck
True Track they are a sponsor on this site. Call them. The only reason I say this is because I see that you are running a 03 RK, (had to look it up on your profile, otherwise didn't know what bike you have as it's not specified)
otherwise if a new(er) dresser I would say maybe the 402 tire. Anyway, check it out. Heard that this is fairly common with the older touring bikes. http://www.true-track.com/tt_faqs.html
lionsm13, you made mention of something I had not looked at. At 6500 miles the OE rubber was crap, cupped, run low on air and the front was worn heavily. The local stealer put a Dunlop 402T BW on it as a replacement, looks like I need to look for both tires. I had never considered the tire until now as the 402 was a late model issue, DUUHHH!!
