Does anyone know if the Kuryakyn Passenger Grab Rail PT# 1609 will work on an 09 EGC with the Mustang 2 Pc seat? The Kury catalog shows that it will fit the 09 but does not address an aftermarket seat.
I bought the HD one and it would not work with the Mustang seat. The HD part had 1/2" dia. bars welded to the flat mounting plate and those bars stuck up far enough to prevent the front part of the pillian from engaging the Mustang button nuts. It looks like it might work since it is a flat plate without the raised bars.
I sent an email to Kuryakyn asking if it would work and the response that I got was "It should work it fits 09s"?
I don't want to spend $160 plus shipping and then have to pay to ship it back if it doesn't work.
I purchased the Kuryakyn grab bars for my 2004 SEEG. I have a corbin seat and it required a ton of modifications to the seat as I had the same problem, the grab rail prevented the seat from sitting flat. Now, when I say a ton of mods, none of these were hard, it merely meant that I had to lift the leather (i.e. drill out the pop rivets) and grind the edge of the seat to fit the grab rail. All in all it took me about an hour to make the necessary mods to the seat, including lifting the leather, grinding the seat structure (mine happened to be fiberglass) and re-pop-rivet the seat back. A pretty easy job overall, considering I'd NEVER done something like this before.
If the dimension of the rear portion of your Mustang seat is equal to or less than that of the stock HD seat, I can't imagine that there would be a mounting problem for the grab rail.
