Default How difficult to remove heel toe shifter on baggers?

I'm renting a couple baggers (RK, SG) shortly but not a fan of the heel toe shifter. I assume there are kits for the touring bikes for toe shifting only?
Anyone done this or had the dealer do it? Was wondering the cost?

Thx,
Howie

All you do is remove the heel part and buy a chrome cover from your HD dealer and put that on. 15 min's tops. I did it on my 06 RG.

All ya gotta do is remove them from the shaft. and replace the toe shifter on the proper spline for height. You COULD just adjust the toe shifter up a spline or two and leave the heel shifter intact. Very simple procedure.........self evident on how to do it.

If you are renting just take off heel shifter, and put it back when returning.

Thanks.....sorry I didn't mean I wasn't going to ride the rental this way. I have no problem riding the rental with the heel toe. Was just thinking if I took the plunge on an '07 how easy would it be to do away with the setup.

Be carefull about "just" removing the heel shifter lever. There is an issue on the shift lever with the heel lever removed and no spacer replacing it having the shaft moving inward and causing damage internally to something or another back there. There is a spacer available to replace the heel lever on the shifter shaft. That would be the way to go and the stub of the shaft won't mess up your boot. ................. BC

Another option is just removing the heel peg and leaving the shift lever on. I know someone who did this to get the peg out of the way for more room, but the lever is still in place and can still be used.

I would reccomend leaving it on for a while and see if ya get used to it. I love having the option of toe or heel shifting. Especialy when Im romping down on it I like being able to stomp through the gears. IMO it is harder to miss a shift when youre stomping through the gears.

My 04 I bought used and the guy had removed the heel shifter. I had a RK before this bike and I truly miss the heel shift. Anybody want to get rid of the Heel shifter? I'll take it.
