I put on a new Bar & Shield shift linkage today and it looks great. I tried to install it per the instructions but the bolt head was hitting on the front cylinder cooling fins. I ended up putting the joint on the outside instead of the inside of the shift rod. Common problem?
If you reverse the bolt and get a chrome acorn nut you should be able to put it on the inside. I assume it has the heim joints on it. Also you may want to replace the allen head bolt on the trans. lever to a reg hex bolt so that you can tighten it up, had friend's 08 fall off.

This one came with a hex bolt for the tranny lever.
Just seems really out of alignment as it is, I might have to find a new nut/bolt combo that allows me to get in back to the insde where it belongs.

I had to do the same with my 10 RG and haven't had any problems yet. Didn't have that problem with my last bike (07 RK) so I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with the new frame.

Mine is an '07, so no new frame for me. Maybe I didn't understand the directions, I could have sworn that the linkage was supposed to be on the inside. No worries either way I guess.
