I will always run Premium... unless not available. Then take what you can get but always get back. There is a reason to run premium... conversely some machines like my ATV are designed to run on regular lower octane and as i understand that is what you should run. There is a reason... re: engine design. heed the warning... I doubt they have an interest in high octane gas.

I had to fill up with reg. at Old Faithful. May have been coincidence, but that tankfull I got 52-mpg, when the rest of the 4200-mi. trip I averaged 43-mpg. This was in my Wide Glide (8.9 : 1 c/r). No pinging.
As already noted by 'MOOG PLAYER' there are some places in the world where you don't have a choice. I like finding these out of the way lonely roads to explore. So you run the lo-octane, keep off the throttle until the good stuff is back in the tank. Whats with the laptop and the bike too???? Whoops, get down off that soapbox quick Punkin, you want them to throw tomatos at you or what?
When a service station orders 50,000 gallons of regular and their tank only holds 40,000......where do you think they put that extra 10,000 gallons? Being a retired truck driver just ask me I'll be glad to tell you about the MIX.
I want the best of the best of the best for my bike; nothing less. I didn't get it to save gas; satisfied at 45mpg.
This includes my oils, tires, and any expendable resource. I warned the wife. (jk!)
I use 91-93 almost always but over the years I've had to use regular a few times on 3 different Harleys and a Goldwing. I couldn't tell any difference at all.

Ah yes - octane and elevation. Now that's a whole other dimension to the discussion . . . .

I've heard that too - it was in the news last year. Supposedly there's been a crack down on this practice but I'm sure it still happens. Seems like the last couple of years gas hasn't exactly gotten any better - after many years of significant improvement.

Ok, i have heard too that when you pump gas after someone just used that pump for regular gas, that there is still quite a bit of regular gas in the "line" before you start to get the premium.....urban myth?
