My mistress wants something new. I call her my mistress because she always wants something new and shiney bought for her, but in return she will give ya one hella of a ride, all ya have to do is set and enjoy. Today she wants something and I am having a debate within on what. Choices are crome oil cooler or SE ventilator, she already has SE slash-down slip ons. If I go the ventilator I will have to add a tuner. Funds are only available for one or the other. The other will have to wait a couple of months. Spring & summer are coming and Louisiana can get fairly hot(90-100). Question is which one would you do first? I do not plan on any more preformance upgrades after the air breather. Thanks in advance.
Personally, I would go with the AC and tuner. Since you say that's all the motor work you'll be doing, you should just get it finished. The oil cooler can wait. I live in AZ and don't have a cooler on either bike, but I do run Redline 20-60 synthetic in the summer.
I'd get her the ventilator and then introduce her to Jamie at Fuelmoto so that when she gives you those hell of a rides she will be breathing good, just my 2 cents!
If you could afford it Id go with the tuner. You kill two birds with one stone that way. It will sool your bike down and give you more performance where as the cooler will only cool you down. JMO.
I never really understood the purpose of getting the oil cooler. Run a new program and the engine will run cooler. Does running an oil cooler make a noticeable difference in the engine temps?
WOW! I wonder how that compares to adding a tuner. Or in my case since I have the CATs in the head pipes swapping those out.
If youre running cats, youve got tons of room for improvement pertaining to heat issues. Removing those would be a good start. Then there is a fuel management system and oil cooler. Have you ridden in the hot summer weather with those cats on yet? I have a thunderheader (no cat) and a SE fuel tuner on my 09 you see below and it still shuts down to one cylinder here in oklahoma on hot summer days in stop and go traffic. I bought a HD oil cooler for it and tried to put it on but the O2 sensor on my thunderheader was right in the way and it wouldnt mount up so I may go with a jagg oil cooler (mounts in a different place) in the future.
forget the SE ventillater, just get basic A/c for about $110 and a down load or tuner. an oil cooler cost $299. so i would buy the a/c save up another 100 and do the tuner or just a stg 1 download i think its like $150
