Default Progress update: FLHRC into a FLHTCU

This is what your Road King will look like if you decide to turn it into an Ultra

It's been a fun project in some ways, and a chore in others. But the end result will be a nice reward, and so far I'm only into in about $500 + or -, (patience and good luck have done me well on parts ) haven't added every little thing up yet. The only thing I have left to buy are a the new ignition and a few nuts and bolts. The rest of the parts are stacked up in the upper corner of the pic, in boxes. I'm waiting on my inner to get back from the painter ( extra one I found for mock purposes on the bike) and a few electrical parts to show. At the moment I'm making a wiring harness to run the stereo and gauges. With the help of a fellow forum member and a buddy who's an electrician, it's actually a fairly simple task.

I'm not adding a speedo or tach, just using their holes for 2 more speakers. My dash on the tank is a custom job I will attack once the fairing install is complete. I have a few ideas, but I will save them for a later update. I'm still looking for ideas on what I can mount in place of the air temp gauge. That's all for now, I haven't updated since I started, mainly because I've been working so much and haven't made a whole lotta progress ..................

Johnny that's going to look really nice when finished. How long will it take you to finish it up?

Looking good Jonny! The WWW's will look even better on your "Ultra" than on a RKC!

I don't need it, it's overkill. I just need power for the stereo and gauges and made my own harness. Figured that out once I dug into it and traced wires until my head exploded.
Now I have an interconnect for sale...........

With my work schedule, I hope to get it done by the end of the month.

Looking good and wish I had the cash to spring for the fairing to. Keep good notes and lots of pictures as well because you will not be the last person that will do this to their Road King .

So far, I've been lucky. The outer fairing was brand new color matched for just over $200. The rest of the parts I've found on here for a great price. Selling my take-offs has offset the price and I'm getting it done for less than $1500 with a brand new tour pak. Gotta be patient and wait for good deals, but it is possible.

It's been interesting to say the least, but it will all pay off in a few weeks.

I got a set of Khromewerks +2 sweepers from a forum member. Excellent bars and great wrist angle. Best $45 I've spent so far If your considering new bars, check them out. If you can wait, I will meet up with you this spring and let you sit on my bike and give them a feel. I'm not too far south of you. PM me if you want to check them out.

I will definitely want to check out your bike later this spring. I was just thinking it would be good to get together with some of the forum members from around here.
