Thanks. I probably did better on the RKC, but it had more damage. Replaced the tubes, bells, lowers, lower tree, crashbar, fender (+ paint to match). Into it about $700 in parts, thanks to ebay, Craigslist, and HDForum Classifieds.

For the price of new bars, just replace them. Way too hard to get those perfect. As said, when you bend metal back, it weakens.

Absolutely, they won't look perfect, AND MOST OF ALL,, they won't be structurally sound... if you ever had to grab the bike hard for any reason,, Say it was starting to fall over on you,, the bars would bend again very easily where you straightened them,,,
Those bars are terminally weak at that point from here to eternity! It's a "Metallurgical" Fact! (And I am no structural injuneer!)

edit,,,, of course others had mentioned this,, I replied before I read past that post about replacing the bars, because it was the first thing I thought while reading it too....

Also, to the poster who said, "Since the inners off, you may as well paint it",,, um,, look at the pictures! LOL

I meant some other color other than that godawful anniversary slate blue LOL. I see there was a ding in the tank and being it is all apart good time to be creative. Actually I did not see all the photos as they were taking to long to load so I did not realize it was already painted LOL.

OK, I'm ready to shift gears and just replace the bars. Does anyone have a set of take-offs they want to unload? I am a CAS*, but I'm happy to pay a fair price!! PM me, please. Thanks all.
