Who has had to replace the front motor mount on their 06 bagger. I have about 6k on my RK, floorboards started vibrating pretty good last time I road it. BH, I know you did, thanks for the link. Just wondering how many others.
My dads 06 RK custom needs one after only about 900 miles. The dame thing just fell apart, looking from under the bike you can see chunks of it missing.
I ran My GR for a year with the mount broken up and liked the ride. I replaced it with the new up grade mount and took it off and got one from J@P . It cured the vibration I got with chies mount from the stealer.
Took my 06 Ultra in for 1k service and mine had broke, mechanic said Harley got a bad run of them. Ordered my 07 Ultra yesterday hopefully problem is solved.
I just got back from a putt on my '06 Ultra from Northern Nevada to North Carolina, via Canada (a little over 8,000 miles in 25 days)
Yesterday, while "cookbooking" the first 10K service on this '06 Ultra (at 13K miles due to the trip), I found my front motor mount was toast - large chunks missing from the underside.
In the past, I had to replace the motor mount at about 28K miles on my '00 FLHT and at about 50K miles on my '91 FXRS-CON. I can't believe it but this 06 Ultra runs smoothly with a broken motor mount ---- I would not have known the mount had broken if I had not been following the service manual procedure. I knew immediately with the other bikes when their motor mounts failed as the engines were practically jumping out of the frame at idle.
This time I heard a loud 'snap' when I hit a bump in Kentucky and wondered what it was. Now that I think about it, the 'snap' was similar to the sound the FLHT made when it cracked the mount. If it did break then, I road it over 5000 miles with a broken mount and never noticed the difference. I made an appointment to have the mount replaced under warranty next Saturday and will be interested to see if the bike feels any smoother. Wife and I went riding today and the engine movement was about the same at idle for both her '00 FLHT and the '06. I am really surprised. Learn more every time I work on these suckers.
