When my 08 SG was totaled I still had my sundowner seat for it in my garage. The moco says seats for 08 and up are same-same so why can't I get the same seat to fit right on my 09 SG? I have to force it on and can't really get it aligned and fastened down in the back. It obvioulsy doesn't fit right so did I miss something? I can't see anything in the way...it's like the seat is just too long. Has anyone else run into this problem?
Don't have an answer for you. I did check out five different seats listed for a 2009 Street Glide and all came back with 'Fits '08-later Touring and Trike models.' I changed the 'search' to my 0-10 Ultra and came back with the same seats fitting as a '08 and '09 SG.
Looking at the pictures at http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...ts/-J04394.pdf it doesn't seem like the fuel tank tongue or the slot for the seat wouldn't match up and your hooking into a tongue or wrong slot. Maybe if the tongue was actually going in, under the slot, that would put more pressure on the seat as you pushed down. Seems that I remember when I installed the Reach that it did require a firm push on the seat to be able to install the rear seat screw, but it did line up correctly.
Looking again at the pictures, picture number two shows a 2008 and a 2009 mounting hole for the rear fender but I would think the correct hole would line up any way.

I tried to get the seat on again yesterday. I can get it on but it's tricky. When I sit on it obviously moves me further forward than my stock seat.
Well, anybody want a smooth sundowner for an 08 and up SG? As a matter of fact, I've got a bunch of stuff I need to post on here for sale (seat(s), rider backrest brackets (1 for 08 and 1 for 09), rider backrest,....). Let me go find that forum to post all my stuff of my 08 and 09 SGs....
Just for an added. I went to the dealer last weekend to test one of the 10 low seats and couldn't get it to slide onto the front mount of my bike. seems like it was pointed up to high in the front.
I bought an 08 RG seat and put it on my 08 SG but when we tried it on my buddies 09 SG it was not as good of a fit as it was on mine and I would say it was due to the new frame. It did fit but not quite as good as on the 08. It rubbed at the frame a bit more.
I have an 08 Road Glide seat on my 09 Street Glide.
The 08 seats will fit on an 09, but like you said it doesn't go on (slide forward all the way) very easy.
The Sundowner will move you forward just a little. The Road Glide seats seem to move me down and back a little from the stock Street Glide seat. It is way more comfy though.......and not nearly as bulky looking in the passenger area as the Sundowner.

Hmm...good to know. Thanks.
I think I'm gonna end up with the Corbin solo w/backrest (for me) & touring pillion (for the wife). Expensive, but I can ditch the H-D rider backrest bracket and try to sell both my H-D seats. Also it should move me lower and further back.
C&C seats look good but I don't see a pillion that goes with their solo that would make the wife happy.
The mustang solo would actually move me an inch higher and closer...the exact opposite of what I want to do.
Dangit, I was trying to hold out until Sturgis and see what kind of rally specials I could find on seats. Oh well, things don't always work out as planned.
