Default saddlebag rail removal - rk

just want clarification on some threads i have searched. it is an 07 flhp rk. i want to remove the lower two rails on my saddlebag guards to have the same look as my limited. looks like i can just remove them and deal with the holes that will be there. its this true? i have read in other threads about some type of sg type support piece i may need, but i am interpreting that it doesnt apply to what i want to do.

i think i really want to buy the guard that stands alone, like on my limited, that has no holes in it - again, just need to know if that is all i am doing, if i need to brace it up somewhere.

thx - tin

You can remove the guard rails without any issues. The Street Glide bracket references are for those who remove the chrome/rubber bumper below the fender tip light on '08 and older models.

If you remove a saddlebag, you can see that removing the guard rails doesn't involve the chrome/rubber bumper's function.

Yep, I have both types of guards, with and without rails. My sig pic is shown without. The rails themselves are just for looks, or maybe save a little scratch here and there. The main guard will hold the bike off the ground should it take a spill.

Sometimes I like the extra chrome, some times I like the clean SG look. Any of the guards that fit your 07 will fit 98-07. I've got different parts from 03,05, 06 and 07s on mine. Or any auto parts store has hole plugs you can buy. Black plastic or chrome, both easily found.
