Default Signal Problems

I have a 2005 Road King Classic and here is the problem I'm having. When I start the bike, if you look at the dash panel, the left turn signal light is illuminated, but the signal itself is not on. When I go to make a left turn and hit the signal everything functions properly. When I hit the right turn signal, both lights flash as if my hazard lights are on. I have not had time to take the dash panel off and start trouble shooting but I will today. What I am wondering is:

1) Has this happen to anyone else?

2) If so, what was the fix?

3) What are some things I should check?

That is kind of weird.I think I would do the easiest first.Remove your bulbs and clean ,dielectric grease the contacts on all four.See what happens then.Might even have a bad bulb, might try some new ones. Then take switch apart if still not right maybe a corroded contact in there.Let us know what you find.

Sounds like a bad ground at one of the turn signal bulbs to me.

The bulbs don't come on, until I hit the switch, but I will try that. And rememer on the dash panel the the left turn dosn't blink it's just illuminated. Now if I hit the left turn switch it blinks.

I've had similar happen to me. Like already mentioned, remove and reseat all of your bulbs. That's what fixed it for me.

So I am thinking...These forum guys don't know what they are talking about, how would a bulb make my dash light come on? So I get the phillips so I can remove my dash panel and it hit me. Removing a bulb is way easier than taking the dash off and last time I took my dash off the rubber seal was all stretched out and was hard to put back on. I told myself next time I take it off I will replace it. So I thought I better try the bulb first and.........

I will never doubt the forum again.
