Default Inner fairing question

Well I went and ordered the factory painted inner fairing for my SG. Should be here is a few weeks so I'm wondering if any of you guys have any tips for switching this out?

How tough of a job is it? I'm planning on snapping a bunch of pictures as I go, and I've got a set of Infinity Speakers to switch out at the same time.

Thought I'd ask about any tips, tricks, advice before I 'tear' into her.

Thanks guys

Ride Safe

Pics are a great idea, especially if routing of wires and cables is an issue during reassembly. I probably did a little overkill, but I used tape and a marker to label pretty much every single thing that I had to unplug that might cause confusion later. You'll have an advantage over me though...I had to disassemble, wait a week for mine to be painted and then reassemble. You'll be doing it while it's all still fresh in your mind!

The trickyest part is the ignition switch. It's not hard at all. ID the wires and I put each set of hardware in baggies and labeled.

Helpful hint I found is to put the bottom volts back into the forks so the fairing guts can be hinged back while pulling and installing the inner. Made a huge difference from trying to hold it all while maneuvering it into place.

Dealer cracked mine on the install when putting in the speaker bolts. Be careful. I worried about it when I changes speakers... Good luck. Love mine!

I'm having the steeler put mine in along with the chrome forks, just waiting on the fairing to show up then I'll get my bike from then a ride it for the first time. Not in a real big rush, it snowed this morning and about 7 degrees, so no riding anyway, I just hope the bike is good to go, with no problems.

A little liquid dish soap on the screw theads here is a great idea. Works like a charm on these.

Easy project, Use your service manual and it will take you through it no problem. As other have already posted, take your time, label everything and photograph if necessary for routing of stuff.

You will love it when you are done....
