I have a '98 Ultra and frequently bottom out on rough roads with 15 PSI in the rear shocks. Since this is my first Harley I wasn't sure what to expect - but I didn't expect to bottom out! I'm 6'4 245 lbs and my wife is 5'11 150 lbs...plus stuff in the bags and the total weight is well over 400 lbs.
Searching the forums I've seen anywhere from 10-15 PSI up to 25 PSI. What is the max PSI these shocks can handle? I also read somewhere that the rear suspension travel for an Ultra is only ~3 inches which isn't much. Are heavy duty shocks/springs available?
Check out Heavy Duty Progressive 440's. I ditched my worn out air shocks for a set and it was well worth the money spent. Progressive 440's are non air coil over.
