My wife and I test rode the 2010 Road Glide and Ultra. The RG had a Reach seat and the Ultra was the new stock seat. Is there a reason the Ultra felt much smoother going over the same roads and bumps? Is the suspension on the Road Glide shortened enough so now we feel the bumps more? There are reasons to like them both but the jarring we felt on the RG may help me make my decision of which one to buy. Thanks.

Don't get me worong the 2010 RG is a great bike but it got horrible reviews for ride quality as it is lowered an inch. If you really like it I understand you can go to the standard rear shocks and it's fine.
Yup the roadglide now has the Streetglide Low Profile shocks on it. It looks cool is the reason. If you like the RG better than the Ultra tell the dealer you'll take it only if he puts the Ultra's shocks on it. Barter, Barter and Barter some more before you buy.
The 12" Low Profile shocks on the 08 were only good for keeping the tire off the fender, that's it. I went to aftermarket 13 1/4" shocks, huge improvement in ride quality.
The shocks are the difference (IMO) I am vertically challenged (5'09") and put 09 Street Glide shocks on my 09 Ultra. Now there is a considerable jar when hitting bumps. I am planning on putting my stock shocks back on, the ride was much smoother.
I bet there wasn't any PSI in the back shocks of the Road glide or it wasn't pumped up enough. When my buddy took delivery of his 2010 road glide and when I took delivery of my 2010 Street Glide there was 0 PSI in the shocks for both of us! We bought from different dealers so I think it's a usual thing for the dealers to overlook.
Well I had a 2004 Ultra Classic it rode like a Caddy, then went to a 2006 Street Glide it rode like a Camaro. Then I just got the new 2010 Road GLide WOW WOW WOW this thing rocks yes it is a little stiff. But its awesome with all the new updates. And its like a sharp tuned racer compared to any others; I just love it............
Go back have them pump both bikes up to over 40 psi in the rear suspension and check the rear tires as well for max pressure and give it one more fair compairison. The Road glide rides really well I think you'll be shocked.
