Default Exhaust pop

Just installed Rush 2.5 pipes on my 05 RK custom. They sound great but i now get a bad pop when shifting and or letting of on the throttle. I took the bike in to the dealer they installed SE hi-flow kit and told me to put more baffle in. Will adding more baffle stop the popping? Bike is carburated. Love the sound can't live with the pop.

Your bike is running lean thats the reason they told you to add more [i would think a smaller id baffle ] is what they should have told you. It will raise the back pressure and hopefully richen the fuel mixture. But if they installed a highflow airfilter and did not rejet your carb, Your dealer made the problem worse. They have now added more incoming air witch well cause a even more lean running condition. 2 ways to solve this problem richen your fuel mixture by having larger jets put in your carb or take the mufflers off. Look for your pipes to start bluing pertty soon also if you do not get the lean mixture corrected. Best of luck.

Return the Rush pipes before it is too late. I have an 05 Ultra EFI with Power Commander, Rush 2.5", SE Stage 1 Air with K&N and custom dyno - still have constant popping on decel no matter what and gold discoloration [:@]

Great sound, but I question the quality and service from Epiflex.

Changing exhaust system soon.

A few years back, I had a similar problem with popping during deceleration or rolling off the throttle with a set of Samson 2.5 inch pipes. The bike was properly jetted. I eventually figured out that the rear pipe was not making a good seal where the headers mated up to the heads. I removed the pipe and replaced the exhaust gasket repositioned the pipes slightly and the popping went away.

What makes people think that because a bike is poping from the exhaust it's running lean? Anytime unburnt fuel is run into a exhaust system it will pop. The best example I can give is watch a short track NASCAR race. When the driver lifts his foot of the gas going into a turn you will see almost every vehicle out there shoot flames from the exhaust. This is because of unburned fuel. The only real way to tell if it's running lean is to look at the O2 readings.
