I've got the same GPS. Do a search for Powerlet - It's how I have mine setup. Not cheap but a great setup.

You just need to attach the power wire on the GPS to a 12V source and the ground wire to a good ground on the bike. If you want to wire it permanently, there would be little difference compared to fairing bikes except the location of the wires. If you don't want it to turn off automatically when the ignition is switched off, wire it directly to the battery. Many do it this way, but I didn't because if I forget to turn it off it will run the battery down if the GPS remains on. It's also a hassle to run the wire under the tank.

If you want it to switch off with the ignition, just use the same guidelines as for the fairing bikes. The ACC switch on your nacelle is one that would be convenient. Just unscrew it from the nacelle and splice into either the O/R (orange/red) wire if you don't want to use the ACC switch, or the O wire if you do. Since the GPS has its own switch I can't see any reason to have it powered by the ACC switch, but you have that option.

An easier connection and the one I used is the unused HDI connector near the headlight harness. It should be a capped-off blade connector on an O/W wire that will give 12V with ignition on. Just add a blade connector to the 12V wire for the GPS, then plug it in. Of course you'll also need to ground it somewhere, but you could use the unused HDI ground (black wire) that should be near the O/W wire.

I can't tell the model-year of your bike except that it is pre-'09. Assuming the wiring is unchanged, which should be the case, I would expect yours to be the same.

I personally wouldn't wire it direct to a hot wire, if you do when you have it removed the pin is always hot and will corrode and turn green just like a cheap ring. Safer with a switched hot wire JMO. Good luck !

Powerlet has nice clean handlebar mount with built in plug. Take the seat off, wire to the battery, loosen the tank consel and slip the wires under the edge and out to the front of the tank. Plug into the accessory plug. When you want to use the GPS screw in the ball mount and plug in.

But, here is what I did on my old bike (cost $8.00 at Walmart - what can I say, I am a cheap SOB - LOL!), and I would certainly do this again...

of course, you could mount the outlet just about anywhere, and either wire it straight to the battery or to an accessory spot on the fuse panel...

For my Nuvi 760, I got a Ram-Mount handlebar mount, which I transfered from the old bike to the FLHTP... the ball mount goes on the handlebars, and you leave it, but can remove the arm and caddy... the ball mount is in the pic... I will take some new pics of the setup on the FLHTP tomorrow during daylight hours.

I did mine yesterday, with a Garmin 255W. The 5v transformer is in the plug end, so that had to stay, but the heritage has no 12v plug-in, so I modified the plug to include power wires out to the battery and the ground wire to a slide switch, which I hid just over the oil tank at the frame junction, so it wouldn't drain the battery.
Pulling the big connector under the tank took longer than any part of the whole install, including soldering and heat-shrinking all my connection lugs and tying off the wires. It took a while to get a piece of 12ga. house wiring for pulling, to go where I wanted it under the tank, then again when that didn't work, and had to remove the back tank bolt to help feed the thing.
After the plug mod, I wrapped it with tape and sealed all holes and seams with a roofing clear sealant called GeoCell. I cut out the tape over the pilot light and put Geo over that too, so it's still there for troubleshooting.

Oh, and as you see, I drilled thru the nose contact to run the hot wire through. After assembly, I covered it with Geo as well, to avoid shorts. You could as well use black RTV silicone. I wish I'd taken some final pics, but we have a ride coming up.
