Default Big Bore Kit

I'm thinking about having a 103" big bore kit put in my 07 SG. Anyone done it? Much difference? Worth while? Any advice/pointers

Not to be flippant, but if you use the Search function for the Touring Forum, you will find enough 103" threads to read for at least a month, if not 3 or 4 months.

You need to determine what your budget is, what your goal is for the end-result and then start research...

Simple answer yes, there's no replacement for displacement, that being said your engine is just a big air pump, so the more air you can get in & out the more power you're going to make. Cams & ported heads make hp, cubic inches helps torque, the combination of the two makes for a good running bike. As said above there have been numerous threads about this subject, so do a search or talk to an expert engine builder & explain how you ride & what type of power you're looking for. HP & $$$ are directly related.

Does a 08 Street Glide count. If you do it take the time to do it right, do the heads... Talk to your builder and be very clear about what you want from the build, what is your riding style (it might just change a bit with more power )what are you using the bike for.Talk to your head porter and tell him what cams compression and head gasket you will be using. You will love it

The 103 motor should be standard equipment in all the touring bikes. Definitely worth it.

In addition to the suggestions above go to a builder and talk things through with him. There are several builders here on HDF who can also help. Talk through why you want to do this and they will provide you with a build that will do just that and probably more. Don't just fit a big bore kit and expect miracles! It takes a good builder to do that, to get the mix of parts and other mods just right.

1. Too many to count have done this.

2. Big difference.

3. Only you can decide that question.

4. Advice and opinions on this site are not lacking. Everyone thinks you should get what they have, as it's the best.

What Smokindave said and..... picking what type of tuning device you will use and who is going to tune it is an important part of the decision.
