I went to the screw in type fasteners (vs the 1/4 turn) after I had one half fall off.
I got home from a ride and it started to fall off as I went to pull in the garage.
No real damage, I got lucky.

I went with the Bagger Bolts solution; haven't had a problem and I've been known to carry a LOT of stuff in my bags!

^ I like the bolt solution. I was a bit worried when I really loaded mine down one day.

What is the defect? Those same fasteners have been used to hold cowlings on airplanes since the 30s. I used to be an aircraft mechanic and I have never heard of one failing. Typically the material to which they are attached fails before they do. Except for the recall (wrong size fastener), I have to think these bags falling off are operator errors.

I know this is a 6 year old thread but,if my wife could not see the bag missing there would be a different problem.

The recall was replacing the wrong size fasteners with the right size.

The recall replaced the stud receptacle (spring clip). I had an original one fail after 1 year. It apparently lost spring tension that locks the pin in place. The receptacle was a new part designed to fit the new rear frame of the 2014 bike.
