My friend hsa an 04 ultra and thought he was taking out the tranny drain plug and mistakenly unscrewed a small alan head screw on the bottom of the engine case on the right side of the case. about a half cup of what looked like engine oil drained out. What the heck was that ??

This is his primary drain plug. I honestly don't know why the other is there or what it is there for.

It's the drain plug for the crankcase. You pull it to check for sumping. 1/2 cup oil is good. The one to use for your oil temp gauge is the one marked "crank" in soos's picture.

did you ever find out

Watt those bolts where. I did the same thing but I can’t unscrew mine I’m thinking it’s for the oil son that sits there in the bottom of the crank case. Maybe you could drain it out that way
