Just got back from a 4-day, 1200 mile ride on my 2009 Street Glide. I noticed that oil was dripping from the air filter and spraying all over the right side of the bike. A nice mess. I stopped at a HD Service Dept on the way, and the tech said this happens on long hauls at highway speeds!
Upgrades on my bike include K&N filter, V&H pipes, and V&H FuelPac. Mileage is 8000. No problem with performance.
It's pretty common and you can find several posts on here about it. Like the others said keep your oil at a moderate level instead of the upper level and it probably wont happen again.
