Default Oil in the Air Filter?

Just got back from a 4-day, 1200 mile ride on my 2009 Street Glide. I noticed that oil was dripping from the air filter and spraying all over the right side of the bike. A nice mess. I stopped at a HD Service Dept on the way, and the tech said this happens on long hauls at highway speeds!

Upgrades on my bike include K&N filter, V&H pipes, and V&H FuelPac. Mileage is 8000. No problem with performance.

You guys ever hear of this? Any ideas?

What's your oil level at? I generally run mine a half of qt. low to avoid that...

Keep your oil quantity half way between the low and add oil marks. That usually eliminates the oil blow by.

Always have a little on the bottom of the element but not enough to drip and nothing like you describe. Done 500-550 mile days

It's pretty common and you can find several posts on here about it. Like the others said keep your oil at a moderate level instead of the upper level and it probably wont happen again.

thanks for the info.
Now my oil level is 1/2 to 3/4 low. I'll keep it there and see if that helps.

How many miles on the filter.

I had this problem on my FXDI and the local idy told me to clean and reoil the filter. No more drip.

Same thing with my current ride. Was spitting oil on the side of the bike and dripping a little bit. Cleaned and reoiled filter. No more drip.
