Key point being that eyes are closer (still a distraction)to what is ahead and not below you. Mine is n mounted on the clutch side bar for this reason. I would be hesitant to to mount mine on the tank. But that is just me.
It does look cool on the tank.
Ride safe

It's gonna depend on the model and capability of your GPS.

My wife bought me a Garmin 1350T for Christmas. Great little unit... in the CAR. It does not have an audio out jack (or an MP3 player - more on that later). I have that on my bike... for now...

If your GPS has an audio out jack, you can always employ the AUX input of your stereo and pump the output there.

HOWEVER - i believe the best solution is this one...

Garmin 755, 765, 775, 785, 855, 885 models have three things that nake me happy:

1. An FM transmitter so no wire required to the AUX port.

2. A MP3 player (load your tunes up on a SD card and plug it into the GPS). While listening to your tunes, the GPS will also use the FM transmitter link for it's audio - much like a built in GPS in a car.

3. No external iPod or MP3 player required when using the GPS! So, no add'l mount to buy and clutter up your bars.

I'm leaning toward picking up a refurb 755 or 765 on eBay for around $160. Yes, these units are primarily designed for cars but at this price, if it lasts a few years I'll be happy. The refurbs have a one year warranty, just like new. I'll carry a plastic bag in my windshield bag for when it rains and just put it over the GPS until I can pull over and remove it.

Oh - there is a good comparison chart for Garmins here:

http://gpstracklog.com/compare/garmi...mparison-chart

Hope that helps!
Quick (and maybe stupid) question. Are the Garmin GPS like the top of the line Nuvi or Zumo multi-task? In other words, can I have the GPS on for visual navigation and play MP3 tunes or listen to XM radio, when the GPS has these features, at the same time?

Any one of the Nuvi GPS's I listed can play MP3's while navigating... most excellent!

The Zumo models that are built for MC's are. The Nuvi's are not.

I have a TomTom One 125. Its not waterproof either but if I can help it, it wont get wet. The tank mount looks interesting for an XM or MP3 player but still not convinced on the GPS mount. I guess I would have to see one in person to get the real feel for it before I can pass true judgement.
