Default GPS mount for fuel door lid

Yah..... I know it's from Kuryjunkin but I bought one and everyone I show it to thinks it's trick. So I thought I'd share it with the forum. It sits nice in front of you and not on the handlebars.

Interesting. What I can't tell from your picture or the picture on the Kuryakyn website is - is it still lockable?
I can't see a keyhole...

Cool - I have a few questions for you tho...

What does it look like when the GPS is removed? I don't keep the GPS on mine all the time. Currently run the handlebar RAM mount and it isn't the worst thing leaving the ball on the handlebar... but not the best either.

How much of a PITA is it when you fuel up with the GPS attached?

I do like the positioning of it for sure!

I've got one on my Ultra, You reuse the factory lock or pushbutton. (Whatever you had installed.) I have the key and it is a bit fumbly to get the key in there and turn it. You can't have some big ring full of crap.
As far as looks with the 'GPS' removed, you see a mount on the tank. I don't mind at all, it is utility, not a fashion show to me. (I have my XM radio always mounted there, my GPS is on a ram mount on the left bar.)
I did a little modification and routed my wiring inside the fuel door and through the console so it doesn't show.

It is not clear to me if the metal piece that you mount your device to is removeable from the assembly (with the device) by taking that finger nut off on the left side. Checked the install instructions and can't figure that out from them either. Can this be done?

It's definitely pretty trick looking but my concern would be that it's not in your peripheral vision so if you need to look at it or enter in anything there's a pretty large gap where you'd be taking your eyes off the road, lowering your head to view, etc.

That's just my thought, have you ridden with it yet and what were your thoughts on that?

Had both but stayed with the ram mount on the handle bars. Keeps your eyes closer to the road and screen looks brighter at that angle.

Yes, you take off the old fuel door, remove the existing lock and put that on the new fuel door. Takes about 5 minutes to put this on. I'm going to take my lock off and put on the HD push button though.

Its right in my field of view and no more riskier than looking at your gauges. I haven't had one on the handlebars, but don't think it would be any worse than taking your eyes off of the road to look at that one either. My thoughts are I liked the mount for this, and went this way instead of the handlebar mount ? I don't lower my head and simply have to glance down at it. Hope this helps.
