Just developed a bad vibration up to 3000 rpm. Sat when I drove it home from the shop it was around 1500-2000 rpm. Drove it to work this morning seemed to be the same & on the way home it got worse. One way is about 20 miles. 1999 Ultra Classic w/95CI, 76000 miles. Just got done putting injectors & Engine Temp Sensor in it and shortly before that I did a stator, rotor & regulator in it (aprox 1000 miles ago). Feels like the engine is out of balance bad. Any ideas? I am going to pull the primary cover off sometime this week to see if anything came loose. Replaced the cam tensioners & bearings 26000 miles ago, so if I don't see anything on the primary side, I will check that. Thanks.
I have checked the mounts. It just feels more like something is coming apart, & more like the engine balance. & since it seems to be getting worse in such a short time. Will keep you all appraised of the situation.
Yes, even with the clutch in, moving & at a stand still. Has anyone reused the gaskets on the primary? Pulled it off tonight & everything looks good. Did find a socket between the engine & the frame, that may have been the vibration I was getting (hope).

I've reused primary gaskets twice with no problem. My vibration at 3000 rpm turned out to be a loose mid exhaust mount, right under the tranny. One bolt was completely missing and I had to pull the exhaust to replace the bolt and tighten the other.
Hopefully the socket was your problem.
Mine is doing the same, I didnt want to start another thread but noticed in the floorboards highway pegs handlebar and even the seat....it feels like the power pulses from the motor.....I have done no motor work...but was wandering how to check the motor mounts and or stabilizer..it a 03 EG with 28 000 miles.....BTW hope the socket is your problem

Check the bolt connecting the bottom front of the engine to the frame. I had an '01 Ultra and checked mine and the bolt was about ready to fall out. I do not recall the torque spec. A dealer wouldn't charge much to check your motor mounts if you don't have a service manual.
