I am taking the bags off for a while going for that super fat boi look, There is only one thing i need. I have seen these staggered slash down V&H mufflers b4 but i cannot seem to find them for the '09 Road King here is a link http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/produc...fCatId=&mmyId= these are the exact style i am looking for. If anyone knows where I can find these for a Touring any post with links or just names would be great thanks.
I just went bagless for about 2 weeks. I have been busy with getting ready for vacation and getting my bike ready to ride. Havent had much time to tinker with the bags, so just rode it bagless. Got lots of weird looks and questions, but I didnt mind.
Yea the older models look kinda krazy without the bags especially with all the hardware attached. I did a test run and took all the rails and latches off along with the rear bumper, and the bike looked really good, I was very surprised and also impressed. The mufflers are the only thing that dont go along with the sleek look the bike has without the bags. With the new design of the '09 and up frame you could really pull this off, just gotta do it right. There are pics of some great looking RK's out there with the bags removed just type "bagless road king" in the search engine and hit images.
Do you have the stock motor on the bike? If so I'm not certain that you're going to be able to find that style of pipe that will work on the Road King. Perhaps you might want to consider a 2-into-1 pipe if you are wanting it to come out on one side.
Another thought...have you looked at the V&H Big Radius? They don't follow the line of the bike but they are pretty mean looking and could be used with or without the bags...

Yea its a stock 96. I thought about that, I was actually looking at the 2-into-1 pipe thats on the new '10 streetglide but I am trying to eliminate all the hardware on the rear and I would have to dig out the cat on it as well. Any suggestions?

Yea i have look at that style, they look good but more for a metric bike, i am trying to keep that classic custom look.
I would guess the only reason pipes are specific for a RK is because of the bags. If you are going bagless, just find the pipes specific for your motor and see if they will hang up OK. Check with a cusomizer to see what it would take to make it happen.
