Default 5th gear

I have an 09 Electra Glide, understand the deal with 5th gear...I have switched the oil, seems to have reduced the noise some. My question is does it get any quieter with more miles...my bike only has 1800 on the clock.

To be honest I don't know if it gets quieter or I just don't pay attention any more? My 09 has about 12K now. It seems almost undetectable after changing oil in the transmission, then gradually I will notice it a little as it's getting close to the next oil change. After which it goes away again.

Thanks, I think I might be paying to close attention.

I have an 09 RoadKing that just turned a little over 8000 miles and I noticed (in fact just this weekend) that the 5th gear noise has gone down some, I don't know if the gears wear-in or because the oil was just changed to BelRay, but there is a difference.

It will go away with miles. Ive got 18,000+ on my 07 and I dont hear anything any more in 5th.......now the old ladys 09 TriGlide sounds like a turbo kicks in when she hits 5th. Its only got 3500 on it but I know with time it will quiet down to

Until I saw this thread I had forgotten all about it. I changed to Redline tranny oil at 5K (14K now) and honestly can't recall hearing the whine since.

My 09 EGC has quieted down some after several thousand miles, but putting Redline's V-Twin Transmission Oil with ShockProof® in the tranny helped alot.

I kind of like my audible 5th gear indicator though.

And, as a professional poser, I like my bike to make noises that cause people to look my way so they can enjoy me.
